چکیده

A two-dimensional vesicle of hard rods subject to a shadowing interaction is analy2ed by Monte Carlo simulations. From the mode analysis of the shape fluctuation of the vesicle, the bending rigidity is estimated microscopically and the relation between the rod length and the bending rigidity is studied. A scaling relation of a mean square radius of gyration is investigated and compared with that proposed by Leibler, Singh and Fisher. Increasing osmotic pressure a vesicle performs a shape transition from a circular to bi-lobocyte shape. A vesicle with a spontaneous curvature is also studied by using molecules of a frustum shape.

Solvation Force in Hard Ellipsoid Molecular Liquids with Rod-Sphere and Rod- Surface Interactions

In previous work, one of us calculated the Solvation force of hard ellipsoid fluid with hard Gaussian overlap potential using hard needle wall interaction and non-linear equation proposed by Grimson- Rickyazen. In present work, using density functional theory and extended restricted orientation model, the solvation force of hard ellipsoid fluid in presence of more realistic rod- sphere and rod-...

Torsional wave propagation in 1D and two dimensional functionally graded rod

In this study, torsional wave propagation is investigated in a rod that are made of one and two dimensional functionally graded material. Firstly, the governing equations of the wave propagation in the functionally graded cylinder derived in polar coordinate. Secondly, finite difference method is used to discretize the equations. The Von Neumann stability approach is used to obtain the time ste...

a Comparative Theoretical Analysis for a Knitted Loop Model

The theory presented in this paper differs from previous ones in that no arbitrary loop shape is assumed. Rather a strophoid curve, that is similar to knitted fabric Loop shape, has been assumed as the basic mathematical function. Additionally, the theory is improved by adapting buckled elastic rod theory, leading to a new equation from a certain mathematical curve. This loop model is assumed t...

Elastic theory of low-dimensional continua and its applications in bio- and nano-structures

Elastic theory of low-dimensional continua and its applications in bio-and nano-structures This review presents the elastic theory of low-dimensional (one-and two-dimensional) continua and its applications in bio-and nano-structures. First, the curve and surface theory, as the geometric representation of the low-dimensional continua , is briefly described through Cartan moving frame method. The...

Self-assembly of 2D membranes from mixtures of hard rods and depleting polymers().

We combine simulations and experiments to elucidate the molecular forces leading to the assembly of two dimensional membrane-like structures composed of a one rod-length thick monolayer of aligned rods from an immiscible suspension of hard rods and depleting polymers. Computer simulations predict that monolayer membranes are thermodynamically stable above a critical rod aspect ratio and below a...
